PLUGIN INFORMATION
===============================================================================

Plugin:       24FP FrequencyPanner
Version:      0.1.1
Format:       VST3, 64-bit; standalone application
Type:         Four-band stereo autopanning effect
Creator:      Marko Damjanovic (MARCOD)
Studio:       24REC
Updated:      September 6, 2026

24FP FrequencyPanner brings independent stereo movement to different parts of
the frequency spectrum. Keep the low band centred while the mids and highs
move at different speeds, or build wider rhythmic motion across the signal.

The interface follows the 24REC hardware family: worn grey metal, recessed
control sections, the original 24KD/24SCD pointer knobs and engraved-style
lettering. The live display shows the frequencies present in the output.

===============================================================================
HOW 24FP WORKS
===============================================================================

THE SIGNAL PATH
---------------

1. Stereo audio enters the plugin and is divided into four frequency bands.
   Drag the three orange crossover markers to adjust the divisions.

2. Each band has its own pan centre, modulation depth, rate, phase, stereo
   width and LFO shape. Different cycles create layered stereo movement.

3. LOW MONO locks the lowest band to mono and centre. Its Pan, Depth and Width
   settings are overridden while the lock is on.

4. The processed bands are combined. MIX blends this signal with the original
   input, and OUTPUT sets the final level.

5. The live spectrum displays combined left/right output energy. Its analysis
   runs in the interface and does not modify the audio.

The existing crossover uses cascaded low-pass filters and residual bands.
Neutral pan, depth and width settings reconstruct the input within floating-
point precision when LOW MONO is off. This is not a Linkwitz-Riley topology;
the displayed crossovers are filter settings, not abrupt frequency cutoffs.

===============================================================================
CONTROLS
===============================================================================

PER BAND
--------

PAN sets the centre of the stereo motion, from left to right.
DEPTH sets the amount of automatic panning. At zero, only PAN sets position.
RATE Hz sets the free-running speed from 0.01 to 12 Hz when SYNC is off.
PHASE offsets the LFO cycle from 0 to 360 degrees. It is a modulation offset,
not an audio polarity switch.
WIDTH controls the stereo side signal: 0% is mono, 100% preserves the input
width before panning, and values above 100% increase width.

The shape selector offers SINE, TRIANGLE, SQUARE, SAW UP, SAW DOWN and RANDOM.
RANDOM uses a repeating stepped pattern. Square and saw shapes have abrupt
transitions; sine and triangle give smoother motion.

The division selector sets the cycle length when SYNC is on:
2 BARS, 1/1D, 1 BAR, 1/2D, 1/2, 1/4D, 1/4, 1/8D, 1/8, 1/16D, 1/16, 1/32.
D means dotted: one and a half times the corresponding straight division.
Bar labels use four quarter-note beats per bar. Sync follows host tempo;
it does not reset the LFO to the host's bar position. The fallback is 120 BPM
when host tempo is unavailable.

BYP excludes the band from the processed sum in this version. It therefore
acts as a wet-band mute, rather than passing that band through unprocessed.
SOLO isolates selected bands in the processed sum. Multiple solos can be on.
At MIX below 100%, the dry signal remains audible alongside those selections.

GLOBAL
------

MIX blends dry input and processed output, from 0 to 100% wet.
OUTPUT adjusts the final level from -24 to +12 dB.
SYNC switches all bands between musical divisions and their RATE Hz settings.
LOW MONO keeps the lowest processed band mono and centred.

INITIAL PATCH
===============================================================================

Band Upper crossover Cycle Depth Phase Width Pan
---------- ----------------- --------- ------- ------- ------- --------
LOW        170 Hz            2 bars      0%       0       0%    Centre
LOW MID    900 Hz            2 bars     50%       0     100%    Centre
HIGH MID   5 kHz             1/1D       50%       0     100%    Centre
AIR Full upper range 1 bar 50% 0 100% Centre

LOW MONO and SYNC are enabled. MIX is 100% and OUTPUT is 0 dB.
LOW, LOW MID and HIGH MID use SINE; AIR retains its TRIANGLE shape.
All bands are active, with no solo selected.

New instances use this patch. Existing saved sessions retain their settings.
There is no separate factory-preset browser in this version.

LIVE FREQUENCY DISPLAY
===============================================================================

The main preview overlays a live output spectrum on the four coloured bands.
The horizontal scale is logarithmic frequency. The trace shows output energy
from both stereo channels, so opposite-polarity content remains visible.

Orange markers set crossover frequencies. Coloured dots show each band's pan
position and activity. The analyser uses a 2048-sample Hann-window FFT with
visual decay; it is a visual aid rather than a precision mastering meter.

===============================================================================
QUICK START
===============================================================================

1. Insert 24FP FrequencyPanner as a stereo audio effect on a playing track.

2. Start with the initial patch. LOW MONO keeps the bottom band centred while
   the three upper bands move at different musical rates.

3. Drag the orange crossover markers to place movement around the useful
   frequency regions of the sound.

4. Adjust DEPTH for intensity and PHASE for relationships between bands.

5. Keep SYNC on for tempo-based cycles, or switch it off and adjust RATE Hz.

6. Use MIX for a subtler blend and OUTPUT to match the processed level.

===============================================================================
INSTALLATION - WINDOWS VST3
===============================================================================

1. Close FL Studio or any other DAW currently using the plugin.

2. Locate the complete plugin bundle inside the package's VST3 folder:

       24FP FrequencyPanner.vst3

3. Copy the complete .vst3 folder, including its Contents folder, to:

       C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3

   If an older version exists, replace the complete old bundle. Administrator
   permission may be required when writing to the Program Files folder.

4. Reopen the DAW and rescan VST3 plugins if necessary.

5. Load 24FP FrequencyPanner as an effect. The CREDITS button shows v0.1.1.
   Add a new instance to use the revised initial patch.

The included standalone application can be opened for testing without a DAW.
Select an audio input and output in its audio settings. It needs incoming
audio; 24FP does not generate sound or respond to MIDI notes.

===============================================================================
VERSION 0.1.1 CHANGES
===============================================================================

- Revised initial patch: 170 Hz / 900 Hz / 5 kHz crossovers and slower cycles.
- Phase Guard removed completely, including its nonlinear audio processing.
- Correlation display removed.
- Live stereo output frequency spectrum added.
- Hardware-style interface with original 24REC texture and knob artwork.
- Larger band controls arranged in two rows.
- 24REC plugin lettering at the lower left and a CREDITS button added.

===============================================================================
COMPATIBILITY AND USE
===============================================================================

24FP is supplied as a 64-bit Windows VST3 effect for a compatible DAW.
It requires stereo input and stereo output. No MIDI input is needed.

Width expansion and panning can change peak levels and mono compatibility.
Leave output headroom and check the mix in mono as part of normal mixing.
There is no output limiter or Phase Guard in this version.

The Windows VST3 and standalone builds compiled successfully. Automated
default-value and neutral reconstruction checks passed, and the actual editor
was rendered and visually inspected. These checks do not replace testing in
your own DAW and audio setup.

The Source folder contains the project, assets and smoke test. Building from
source requires JUCE 9, CMake 3.22 or newer, and Visual Studio Build Tools.
See Source/README.md for build commands.
